Our Co-Founder and CEO, Teniesha Biagas participated in Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day as a youth in her home state of Texas. Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day gave her a glimpse into her mother’s day-to-day duties as a social worker. She appreciated the Texas recognized student holiday so much, she decided to bring a similar tradition and experience to her new home of New Orleans.
Take a Professional to School Day, a twist on the traditional “Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work® Day,” gives executives, writers, entrepreneurs and other professionals from the Greater New Orleans area the opportunity to take over a campus for one school day to give personal testimonies about their professional journeys, as well as offer encouragement and guidance on how to become successful in this competitive society.
Participants attend classes to speak to students about their careers and the path they chose to get there, as well as discuss their own personal and professional struggles along the way. After the classroom session, the professionals eat lunch with students in the cafeteria and hold one-on-one discussions about their career options. The day concludes with a school-wide assembly along with multiple panels and Q&A sessions hosted by local celebrities and selected students.
“Take a Professional to School Day” provides an opportunity for students who are unsure of their future aspirations the endless professions and possibilities that await. NolaBlackProfesionals.com taps into their rich network of professionals to give these students an opportunity to engage with individuals who understand the challenges of young people today and can provide insight and advice on how to overcome the obstacles that can keep them from fulfilling dreams.
